Role Summary
- Shift A - Monday-to-Friday (0600-1430hrs)
- Shift B - Monday-to-Friday (1400-2230hrs)
As Hygiene Supervisor, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation and food safety across our manufacturing facility.
Leading a team of Hygiene Operatives, you will coordinate daily hygiene activities, oversee cleaning schedules, support training and development, and ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, environmental and health & safety requirements.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality and Technical teams, you will help minimise contamination risks, maintain audit-ready standards and support the continuous improvement of hygiene practices across the site.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational responsibility with team management and compliance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Hygiene Operations
- Lead and coordinate daily, weekly and periodic cleaning activities across production, storage, laundry and welfare areas.
- Ensure all hygiene schedules are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
- Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and machinery.
- Monitor hygiene standards and implement corrective actions where required.
Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to Hygiene Operatives.
- Allocate tasks, monitor workloads and ensure effective shift handovers.
- Support the induction, training and ongoing development of team members.
- Promote a positive, high-performing and safety-focused culture.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety legislation, COSHH requirements and company procedures.
- Review hygiene documentation, cleaning records and verification checks.
- Support internal, customer and regulatory audits.
- Work collaboratively with Quality and Manufacturing teams to minimise contamination risks.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve hygiene standards, efficiency and compliance.
- Support investigations into hygiene, quality and safety incidents.
- Assist with the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an organised and proactive supervisor with a strong understanding of hygiene operations within a food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or manufacturing environment.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience within a hygiene, sanitation or cleaning role.
- Experience working within a GMP-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Experience completing hygiene documentation and compliance records.
- Sound understanding of food safety and contamination control principles.
Desirable Experience
- Previous Team Leader, Supervisor or Senior Hygiene experience.
- Experience supporting audits and inspections.
- Experience training or coaching team members.
- Experience investigating hygiene, quality or safety issues.
Essential Skills
