Job Description:
Royal Lymington Yacht Club seeks a Front of house Team Member
The Royal Lymington Yacht Club is one of the UK’s most respected yacht clubs, with a strong sporting heritage and an active, engaged membership. Everything we do at the Club supports activity on the water and our hospitality plays a vital role in how members experience the Club, whether they’re celebrating success, commiserating after a long race, or hosting friends and family.
We are looking for a confident, engaging and hospitality led Front of house Team member to help deliver warm, professional and consistently high-quality service.
This is not a standard restaurant role. It is a visible, hands-on position at the heart of a Royal yacht club, where personality, judgement and attention to detail really matter.
The Role
Working closely with the Restaurant & Bar Manager, you will:
· Be a positive, approachable and professional presence on the floor
· Work with day-to-day restaurant and bar service across the River Room Bar & Restaurant and Solent Dining Room
· Set the tone for great hospitality, friendly, attentive, calm, confident & smiley!
· Engage naturally with members, visiting yachters and their guests, whether celebrating a great race or offering quiet support after a tough day on the water
· Work together collaboratively with the entire front-of-house team, taking pride in what you do
· Deliver excellent service at both relaxed lunchtime service and formal occasions, including black-tie annual dinners and club events
· Deliver excellent Member-focused service in a range of occasions from relaxed lunch services to black-tie Annual Dinners, Members' Lunches and Club Events.
· Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and organisation, with a strong eye for detail
· Handle member feedback and day-to-day issues with warmth, tact and good judgement
· Support service preparation, opening and closing procedures, cash handling and stock control
Who We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from you if you:
· Have experience in a front-of-house hospitality role
· Bring energy, presence and a genuine sense of humour to the floor
· Understand that attention to guests is paramount, and that great service often lives in the detail
· Are emotionally intelligent and able to read a room
· Take pride in standards, consistency and atmosphere
· Have a genuine interest in people, food, drink and great service culture
This role would particularly suit someone with a quality hotel or hospitality background who is looking for a role with strong standards and variety, but without the intensity of 24/7 hotel hours. An interest in sport, sailing or being part of both a competitive and relaxed boating community would be very welcome.
Our Environment
· A lively, Member-focused yacht club with an active sailing and boating programme
· Good pub-style food done well, supported by a carefully curated wine list
· A leadership team committed to raising standards while keeping the atmosphere warm and unpretentious
· A role with real visibility and influence over the member experience
What We Offer
· Competitive salary, dependent on experience
· A supportive and engaged management team, General Committee and Flag officer group
· The opportunity to shape hospitality culture within a respected club environment
· A role where personality, professionalism and pride in service are genuinely valued
