As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Security System Design & Surveyor to play a key role in shaping how we design installations of our new technology
This role will be Hybrid working based from our offices in Shepton Mallet with travel to customer sites and supplier locations across the UK.
The Role
The Security Systems Design & Surveyor is responsible for conducting detailed site surveys for new and existing customers to support the design, costing, and delivery of electronic security system installations.
The role will assess customer requirements, identify site-specific constraints, and develop technically compliant and commercially viable security solutions. Working closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Procurement teams, the Security Systems Design & Surveyor will ensure all proposed systems are fit for purpose, accurately documented, and fully aligned with customer expectations and industry standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct detailed site surveys across commercial, industrial, and multi-site customer environments.
- Assess customer operational, technical, and security requirements to develop effective security solutions.
- Design integrated security systems including CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms and associated network and infrastructure requirements
- Identify optimal equipment locations, installation methodologies, and site constraints that may impact project delivery.
- Produce system layouts, drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting technical documentation.
- Develop survey reports, technical recommendations, and detailed scopes of work for installation and delivery teams.
- Support accurate project costing, planning, and risk assessment through detailed technical evaluations and equipment specifications.
- Engage directly with customers and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the pre-sales and project initiation process.
- Support Sales teams through technical guidance, solution development, quotations, and presentation of survey findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Customer Delivery teams to ensure effective project transition from design through to installation and commissioning.
- Provide clear handover documentation and maintain accurate records within company systems and document repositories.
- Ensure all designs, recommendations, and project documentation comply with customer specifications, relevant legislation, British and European Standards, accreditation requirements, and industry best practice.
- Incorporate health and safety considerations into system design and installation planning.
- Maintain consistency, accuracy, and quality across all survey outputs and project documentation.
- Keep up to date with developments in security technology, products, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of survey methodologies, documentation standards, and design processes.
- Provide feedback from customer sites to support product development and service improvement initiatives.
- Support knowledge sharing across the wider business.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Proven experience in a Security Systems Surveyor, Security Systems Designer, Security Design Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Alarm Systems
- Experience conducting site surveys and producing technical documentation.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, and technical specifications.
- Experience producing equipment schedules, designs, and scopes of work.
- Strong customer-facing communication and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Hybrid role based from Shepton Mallet and regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK.
- Experience within the electronic security, facilities management, or building services sectors.
- Knowledge of structured cabling and IP network infrastructure.
- Experience using CAD, Visio, Bluebeam, or other design/survey software.
- Knowledge of NSI, SSAIB, BS EN 62676, BS 8243, and other relevant standards.
- Previous experience supporting quotation and costing activities.
- Relevant security industry qualifications or certifications.
