The Role
Sentio Inclusive are looking for Education Mentors to provide personalised educational, emotional, and pastoral support to children and young people across Northumberland. The role aims to engage learners who may have experienced barriers to education, helping them develop confidence, resilience, positive relationships, and the skills needed to achieve successful educational and personal outcomes. You will support learners through individual mentoring, educational activities, behaviour support, and the development of personal goals, while promoting safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing at all times.
As an Education Mentor you will:
- Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with learners.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Support learners to re-engage with education through personalised learning activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal responsibility.
- Promote attendance, punctuality, and participation in agreed programmes.
- Assist learners in developing social, emotional, communication, and life skills.
- Help learners identify strengths, aspirations, and realistic personal goals.
For this role you will need
- At least 2 years of experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs (e.g. ASC, ADHD, SEMH, EBSA, trauma, PDA, mental health). This makes it ideal for Support Workers, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), Teaching Assistants (TAs), Higher-Level TAs, Youth Workers, Personal Assistants (PAs), or those with other relevant care or education backgrounds.
- You will also need an enhanced DBS with two professional references and full right to work in the UK.
