Overview
Thirlestane Castle is creating a new housekeeper and housekeeper/security role within the team. The candidate/s will join the housekeeping team and will live on-site.
Thirlestane Castle Trust is a family home and a Charitable Trust, and operates as a Heritage Visitor Attraction, a provider of a short stay accommodation and events venue.
Permanent contract, details as follows:
- 5 days/week including weekends Wednesday to Sunday. Days off will be Monday and Tuesday. One weekend per month will be rota’ d to be covered by other team members so that the applicant can have a weekend off.
- 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day. 1.5 hours each day will be allocated to closing up, check-in’s, responding to the emergency phone.
- Living on site – a cottage will be provided rent free.
Duties
- To provide cleaning and housekeeping support at Thirlestane Castle which will include general cleaning in the castle as well as supporting apartment changeovers.
- To provide cleaning services elsewhere as and when required.
- Supporting visitors services in the tearoom with provision of teas and coffees for day visitors as well as ensuring the tearoom and kitchens are always clean and tidy.
- Responsible for out of hour apartment check-ins
- Helping move guests on site.
- Key holder for both the Trust and Private Wing.
- Locking up and security routine every evening.
- Opening and closing the Castle at the weekend as well as support to visitor services with castle opening.
- Holding and responding to the out of hours emergency phone.
- During periods when the resident trustees are away from the castle the candidate/s will be required to stay overnight in the castle.
Our ideal candidate(s) is someone or a couple who have:
- Experience working as a housekeeper/cleaner
- Experience (but not essential) of working in an historic environment and cleaning/care of antiques furniture.
- Good attention to detail
- The ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Prepared to be flexible within the role and perform well within a team.
- First aid training. Training can be provided.
Pay: £25,350.00 per year
