Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Primary School PE Lead to inspire a love of physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles among young learners. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of engaging physical education sessions, foster a positive environment for sports and movement, and develop pupil's teamwork, coordination, and physical literacy. Your leadership will ensure that PE classes are inclusive, fun, and educational, helping pupils build confidence and resilience through active participation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on pupils physical development and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and deliver high-quality PE lessons that cater to diverse student needs and abilities
- Lead engaging Lunch Clubs/Afterschool Clubs/Holiday Clubs focusing on fun, movement, and personal development
- Facilitate Tots sessions for early years children, developing & encouraging motor skills, confidence, and participation
- Promote a positive behaviour management approach to encourage respectful participation and teamwork among pupils
- Foster an inclusive environment where every child feels motivated to participate actively in physical activities
- Coordinate extracurricular sports clubs, competitions, and events to enhance pupils engagement outside of regular lessons
- Monitor pupil progress in physical skills and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth
- Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to support pupils’ overall development
- Maintain organised records of lesson plans, assessments
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils, and parents about PE activities, expectations, and achievements
Experience
- Proven sports coaching experience with a track record of motivating children in a school setting
- Experience teaching physical education at the primary level or similar educational environment
- Strong behaviour management skills to create a disciplined yet enjoyable learning atmosphere
- Excellent communication skills in English to clearly convey instructions and foster positive relationships
- Demonstrated organisational skills for planning lessons, managing resources, and coordinating events effectively
- Knowledge of current PE curriculum standards and best practices
- Ability to inspire enthusiasm for physical activity while maintaining safety protocols
