Kitchen Assistant / Cook
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic cook/kitchen assistant to join our busy and highly popular Café. This is primarily a weekend position, although additional weekday shifts are available if required. Shifts are approximately 7 hours long.
This role would suit someone who is equally comfortable supporting the Head Chef and confidently taking charge of the kitchen during weekends, holidays, and cover periods.
This is a small, fast-paced kitchen where all dishes are made to order, so the ability to adapt and work efficiently is essential, whilst maintaining exceptional food quality, delivering timely service, and ensuring presentation consistently meets the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and cooking of fresh food to order in a busy café environment.
- Support the Chef during service and confidently manage the kitchen when required.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standards.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic workplace, meeting all kitchen standards both during and at the end of the day and completing all necessary paperwork.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small, friendly team.
The Ideal Candidate
- Will have experience within the catering and hospitality industry working with fresh food, preferably preparing hot and cold meals to order in a busy café/restaurant environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine pride in your work.
- A positive, “can-do” attitude and a friendly manner. Customer service is highly valued across our Garden Centre and Café.
