Overview
We are seeking an experienced Transport and Distribution Manager to oversee our logistics operations, optimise supply chain processes, and ensure the efficient movement of goods across multiple locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation systems, supervising teams, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational performance. Duties
- Oversee daily transportation and distribution activities, ensuring timely delivery and receipt of goods.
- Manage and optimise logistics processes using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and ERP platforms such as AS400.
- Supervise and lead teams involved in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, and forklift operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to streamline supply chain operations and improve service levels.
- Monitor profit & loss statements related to logistics activities, identifying areas for cost reduction and process optimisation.
- Develop and implement process improvements aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations across all logistics activities.
- Analyse data related to supply chain performance and prepare reports for senior management.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement within the warehouse and distribution centres.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience within logistics, warehousing or transportation management roles.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse management systems.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems such as AS400, and process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with 3PL providers, freight optimisation strategies, and inventory control practices.
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage profit & loss accounts effectively while driving process improvements.
- Background in implementing continuous improvement initiatives within complex logistics environments is preferred.
