The Sugar Box Clinic is an established cosmetic and aesthetic clinic with a strong focus on professional standards, patient safety, evidence-based treatments and exceptional client care.
As we continue to grow the clinic, we are looking for an experienced, commercially aware doctor to join us for two days per week, combining the delivery of aesthetic treatments with the responsibilities of Medical Director.
This is a hands-on role for a doctor who wants to be an active part of the clinic rather than simply attending to deliver treatments. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their clinical responsibilities, enjoys building relationships with patients and colleagues, and understands the importance of both excellent clinical care and a commercially successful clinic.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedical Director & Clinical Governance
As Medical Director, you will provide medical oversight within the clinic and support us in maintaining high standards of clinical governance and patient safety.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing appropriate medical leadership and clinical oversight.
- Taking responsibility for the safe and appropriate management of prescription-only medicines used within your area of clinical responsibility.
- Ensuring prescribing decisions are made following appropriate patient assessment and in accordance with current legislation, professional standards and prescribing guidance.
- Supporting appropriate systems for the ordering, storage, stock control, documentation and governance of medicines.
- Supporting the clinic in developing and reviewing clinical protocols, policies and treatment pathways.
- Promoting evidence-based practice throughout the clinic.
- Supporting the management and review of clinical incidents, adverse events and complications where appropriate.
- Providing clinical advice and guidance to practitioners where this falls within your professional competence.
- Supporting clinical audits, documentation standards and continuous improvement.
- Maintaining your own professional registration, indemnity, training and competence.
The Medical Director role does not remove the individual professional accountability of other regulated healthcare professionals working within the clinic.
Clinical Treatment Responsibilities
You will have your own patient list and be responsible for consulting, assessing, treating and following up your patients.
Treatments are expected to include:
- Botulinum toxin treatments
- Dermal filler treatments
- Other appropriate injectable aesthetic treatments within your competence
- Chemical peels
- Tixel skin resurfacing and skin-tightening treatments
- Skin consultations and treatment planning
- Prescribing and recommending appropriate medical-grade skincare
You will be expected to maintain excellent standards of:
- Patient consultation and assessment
- Informed consent
- Clinical photography
- Medical record keeping
- Treatment documentation
- Prescribing
- Follow-up and aftercare
- Recognition and management of complications
- Safeguarding and confidentiality
Treatments should only be recommended where they are clinically appropriate and in the patient's best interests.
Collaborative Working & Cross-Referral
We operate as a multidisciplinary clinic and want our practitioners to work together rather than operate as completely separate businesses within the same building.
You will therefore be expected to:
- Understand the treatments and services offered by other practitioners within the clinic.
- Identify opportunities where a patient may benefit from another practitioner's expertise.
- Appropriately cross-refer patients to other members of the team.
- Accept appropriate referrals from colleagues.
- Participate in discussions around patient treatment plans where a multidisciplinary approach would improve outcomes.
- Support a culture where the right practitioner and right treatment for the patient takes priority.
Commercial Responsibilities
This position requires someone who understands that good clinical practice and commercial awareness can work alongside one another.
You will be expected to actively contribute to the growth of your own patient list and the wider clinic.
This includes:
- Building strong, long-term patient relationships.
- Encouraging appropriate maintenance and follow-up appointments.
- Discussing complete treatment plans rather than viewing treatments in isolation.
- Confidently recommending appropriate skincare and homecare.
- Educating patients about other treatments that may genuinely benefit them.
- Cross-referring to colleagues where appropriate.
- Supporting patient retention and rebooking.
- Participating in clinic events, launches and promotional activity where agreed.
- Contributing ideas to help develop services and improve the patient journey.
- Having an awareness of treatment costs, pricing, profitability and the commercial requirements of running a successful clinic.
Commercial awareness must always sit alongside ethical practice. We do not support unnecessary treatment or inappropriate selling.

Clinically responsible. Commercially aware. Collaborative. Professional. Approachable.
