Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Fully Qualified)Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and fully qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, testing, fault finding, repair, and improvement of electrical systems across our facilities. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, testing, and servicing of electrical installations in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults using specialised testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical systems, components, and equipment in line with current regulations and industry standards.
- Undertake electrical testing and inspection, including emergency lighting, power distribution systems, and fixed wiring installations.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, technical specifications, and manuals.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately documented through CAFM systems, job sheets, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and engineering teams to ensure efficient operation of building services.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and energy efficiency.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and minimise operational downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and company policies at all times.
Qualifications and Experience Essential
- Fully qualified Electrician with recognised electrical qualifications such as:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Qualification.
- AM2 Certification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer within Facilities Management, Commercial Buildings, Healthcare, Industrial, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, control panels, motors, and building services.
- Experience carrying out fault finding, testing, inspection, and electrical repairs.
- Competent in the use of electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and electrical safe working practices.
Desirable
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Experience working within a Facilities Management environment.
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS).
- IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant industry certifications.
- Experience of using CAFM systems.
