We'd like you to join us as a Rehabilitation Healthcare Support worker at our service Woodlands in York.
Purpose of Position
- To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs (Regulated Activity as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006; Schedule 4) of residents in a way that respects the privacy and dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

- To help in the care of the residents physical environment and in the general day to day activities of the home.

Location:Woodlands, York
Hours:42hrs full time
Salary: £31,645.59
What you'll be doing:
- Support and assist residents with personal activities such as washing/bathing, dressing, toileting as part of their day to day care.
- Participate in activities with residents e.g. shopping, reading, hobbies; laundry; leisure/group activities etc.
- To attend all training required to be able to fulfil your role, Moving and Handling, Medication, Safeguarding, Care Certificate etc.
- Maintain a tidy and clean environment and as required participate in preparation and clearing of meals.
- Help to ensure effective communication throughout the team, by participating in meetings and bringing to the attention of a senior staff member anything that may have significant effect on the well-being of residents.
- To protect the confidentiality of the home and in particular any details about residents or the business of the home and not communicate any of these details with individuals outside of the home.
- Participate in training events, some of which are mandatory.
- To conform to all policies and procedures within the home, including Health and Safety.
- Maintain working knowledge of Resident Care plans.
- Recognise the need for action when a potentially serious incident occurs and raise the matter immediately with a senior member of staff.
What you'll have:
- Literate, numerate & good use of English language.
- Basic understanding of Brain injury and mental health problems.
- Basic working knowledge of Care Plans and Risk Assessments of each individual resident.
- Honest, reliable and promotes ethical standards.
- Demonstrates desire to develop skills in working with vulnerable adults and is keen to participate in training.
- Is flexible and practical with good ‘people’ skills being essential to the role.
- Is patient and tolerant when dealing with various (often challenging) resident behaviours.
- Able to work under pressure and to respond appropriately to challenging situations in a calm, level-headed and organised manner.
