Freelance Activities Instructor
About the Role
We’re looking for dynamic, confident, and safety‑minded freelance activities Instructors to deliver high‑quality outdoor experiences and team‑building sessions. You’ll work with a wide range of groups—from school pupils and youth organisations to corporate teams—helping them build confidence, communication, and resilience through engaging, hands‑on activities.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys working with people, and can create a positive, motivating atmosphere in any environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate a variety of outdoor activities such as axe throwing, problem‑solving challenges, mini highland games, archery, or team‑building games.
- Deliver sessions that are safe, engaging, and tailored to the needs and abilities of each group.
- Conduct pre‑activity briefings, demonstrations, and safety checks.
- Manage group dynamics and encourage participation, teamwork, and personal development.
- Maintain a professional, friendly, and supportive approach with all participants.
- Ensure all equipment is used correctly and report any issues or maintenance needs.
- Complete basic session paperwork, risk assessments, and incident reports when required.
- Represent the organisation’s values and uphold high standards of customer service.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience delivering outdoor activities, youth work, sports coaching, or team‑building sessions.
- Strong communication and group‑management skills.
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solution‑focused in dynamic environments.
- A proactive approach to safety and risk management.
- Confidence working with diverse groups, including children, young people, and adults.
Desirable Qualifications
- Outdoor First Aid or First Aid at Work
- National Governing Body awards (e.g., Archery GB)
- Clean driving licence
- PVG/DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
