Overview
To provide high-quality, confidential, impartial, and independent advice, information, and support to clients on a range of welfare benefits, general advice issues or debt. The postholder will assist clients in understanding their rights and entitlements, help maximise income, support benefit claims and appeals. They will also provide information, signposting and ongoing referrals on related issues including housing, debt, employment, and access to local support services.
The postholder will play a key role in helping vulnerable members of the community to achieve greater financial stability while ensuring that all advice is delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, regulatory standards, and organisational policies
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive advice on welfare benefits, including eligibility, application processes, and ongoing support options
- Assist clients in developing tailored debt management plans, offering practical solutions to reduce financial burdens
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in all documentation
- Communicate complex information clearly and empathetically to clients with diverse backgrounds
- Organize caseloads effectively, prioritizing urgent cases while managing multiple client needs simultaneously
Requirements
- Proven experience advising on welfare benefits or debt management within a social services or financial support setting
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical information simply and clearly
- Customer service orientation with a compassionate approach to client engagement
- Good organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge of IT systems relevant to welfare benefits and debt advice services
Pay: £25,000.00-£25,759.00 per year
