GP Surgery Administrator / Receptionist at Saltdean Medical Practice

About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, organised, and reliable Administrator/Receptionist to join our busy GP surgery team. This is a patient-facing role that combines front desk reception duties with administrative responsibilities, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing a welcoming and professional service both in person and over the telephone. As this role is predominantly based on reception and telephone work, excellent communication skills, a calm approach, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
- Assist patients with booking, changing, and cancelling appointments.
- Welcome patients at the reception desk and provide excellent customer service.
- Respond to patient enquiries and direct them to the appropriate clinician or service.
- Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support the efficient running of the practice.
- Undertake general administrative duties as required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS policies.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and professional team environment.
About You

- A professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
- Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail.
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems.
- The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work.
- Previous reception, customer service, or administrative experience (experience within a GP surgery or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided).
