Senior Service Advisor
MAX Automotive Group Ltd – Oldbury, West Midlands
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Unit 20 & 22, Springfield Industrial Estate, Manchester Street, Oldbury, B69 4HH
Position: Senior Service Advisor
About MAX Automotive Group Ltd
Due to continued growth, MAX Automotive Group Ltd is looking for an experienced Senior Service Advisor to join our expanding team.
We operate across multiple specialist automotive divisions, supporting private customers, fleet operators, leasing companies and commercial businesses with:
- Cars, vans & light commercial vehicles
- EV & Hybrid vehicles
- HGVs & trailers
- Plant & powered access
- Mobile servicing & breakdown support
- Vehicle recovery
- Fleet maintenance & management
This is a senior, hands-on position within a busy operation. We need someone who can take ownership of customers and jobs from initial booking through to completion and invoicing.
The Role
As Senior Service Advisor, you'll be a key link between our customers, technicians, workshop management, parts suppliers and fleet partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing customer enquiries by telephone, email and in person
- Booking vehicles into the workshop
- Planning and managing workshop bookings
- Creating and maintaining accurate job cards
- Reviewing technician inspections and identified work
- Preparing accurate estimates and quotations
- Obtaining customer and fleet authorisation
- Ordering and coordinating parts
- Keeping customers updated throughout repairs
- Liaising with technicians and workshop management
- Monitoring jobs and helping minimise vehicle downtime
- Managing fleet, leasing and warranty work
- Processing work through fleet management platforms
- Handling additional work authorisations
- Checking completed jobs before invoicing
- Producing accurate invoices
- Managing vehicle collection and handover
- Following up outstanding estimates and authorisations
- Resolving customer queries professionally
- Supporting junior service advisors/reception staff
- Maintaining high customer service standards
Proven Experience Is Essential
This is not an entry-level Service Advisor position.
Applicants must have a proven track record within an automotive service environment, ideally within an independent garage, dealership, commercial vehicle workshop or fleet maintenance operation.
You should already understand the complete workshop process from:
Booking → Job Card → Inspection → Estimate → Authorisation → Parts → Repair → Quality Control → Invoice → Vehicle Handover
We need somebody who can come into a busy environment and make a positive contribution from the outset.
Technical Understanding
You don't need to be a technician, but you must have a good understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
You should be comfortable discussing:
- Servicing and maintenance
- Brakes and suspension
- Clutches
- Timing belts and chains
- Diagnostics
- Electrical faults
- MOT repairs
- Mechanical repairs
- Manufacturer maintenance schedules
Experience dealing with vans, fleet vehicles or HGVs would be particularly advantageous.
Fleet & Systems Experience
A significant part of our operation involves fleet and commercial customers.
Experience using systems such as:
- 1link / Epyx
- Garage management systems
- Digital vehicle inspections
- Fleet maintenance platforms
- Manufacturer labour times
- Electronic parts catalogues
would be highly advantageous.
Previous experience with Garage Hive, TechMan, R2C or similar systems would also be beneficial.
