Job Overview
Joining our friendly and hard working family as an Yard Foreperson, you'll be on the front line managing operations in our yard and warehouse. You will be dealing with customers and suppliers on a day to day basis. As part of the branch team, you will play a vital role in our continued success, providing a first class service.
What will I be doing?
- Our success is built on strong relationships with our customers so its essential that you can help deliver the highest standards of service - the key thing is to be helpful and friendly at all times, you will likely get to know our customers on a first name basis.
- Manage and motivate yard personnel to support the successful operation of the business.
- You will be based outside, managing the processing of all customer orders, loading and unloading customer and company vehicles.
- You will also support your team in the unloading of products from supplier deliveries.
- Ensure delivery tickets match the products delivered and book them onto the branch computer system.
- Experience of using a forklift is preferred. Refresher training is provided.
- Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, your aim will be to ensure that our standards never slip, this means maintaining a tidy and safe working environment for customers and colleagues.
- Report any matters affecting Health & Safety immediately to branch management.
What skills do you need?
- This is a key customer facing role, you just need experience in a builders merchant or similar trade yard environment.
- Good communication skills for interacting with customers, colleagues and branch management.

Qualifications
- Proven warehouse experience with a strong focus on materials handling and logistics.
- Proficient in forklift operation, ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of goods.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform equipment repairs as needed.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes, along with basic math skills for inventory management.
- Capacity for heavy lifting and adherence to safety protocols in a warehouse environment.
