Maintenance Technician / Handyman – Sheffield

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Maintenance Technician / Handyman to join our property maintenance team, looking after residential properties across Sheffield and the surrounding area.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and plenty of variety. You'll be carrying out everything from basic plumbing and joinery to decorating, repairs and general maintenance.
No two days will be exactly the same. You could be fixing a leaking tap in the morning, adjusting doors and locks in the afternoon, and helping decorate an apartment the following day.
We're not looking for someone who is qualified in every trade. We're looking for a good all-round maintenance person who takes pride in their work, can solve problems and gets things done properly.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work across our residential properties carrying out jobs including:
- General repairs and maintenance
- Basic plumbing – leaks, taps, toilets, sinks and sanitary fittings
- Joinery and carpentry – doors, locks, handles, hinges, skirting and other repairs
- Painting and decorating
- Plaster patching and making good
- Minor tiling and repairs
- Repairing fixtures and fittings
- Checking properties and communal areas for maintenance problems
- Helping prepare empty apartments for new residents
- Carrying out small improvement and refurbishment jobs
- Basic building and safety checks
- Identifying problems that need a specialist contractor
- Keeping simple records of completed jobs and taking photos using a phone or tablet
You'll also deal with residents from time to time, so we're looking for someone who is friendly, helpful and professional.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you'll have previous experience as a:
Maintenance Technician, Handyman, Multi-Skilled Operative, Property Maintenance Technician or similar.
You'll need:
- Good general maintenance and repair skills
- Experience with basic plumbing, joinery and decorating
- Confidence working independently and solving problems
- A practical, common-sense approach to repairs
- Good attention to detail
- A reliable and positive attitude
- Good communication skills
- Basic ability to use a smartphone or tablet
- Full UK driving licence
Trade qualifications are useful, but practical experience and the right attitude are more important to us.
Experience with fire doors, basic electrical work, PASMA, IPAF or similar qualifications would be useful but is not essential.

This is a full-time, permanent position covering residential properties in Sheffield and the surrounding area.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in doing a good job and wants a role where they can use a wide range of practical skills.

Pay: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
