Pennine Flooring are a leading distributor of flooring supplies in the UK, Due to the expansion of our transport team, we have an exciting opportunity to join a fun, friendly, customer service orientated team. As transport assistant you will report directly to the transport manager whilst working closely with the warehouse and sales teams.
You will need to be highly motivated with an eye for detail and demonstrate strong people management skills with the ability to coach and develop others, who is able to interact and engage with colleagues at all levels. You will be IT literate with a keen interest in learning new systems when required.
Role overview
- An experience transport assistant with customer service focus within in a high-volume Transport & Warehouse environment.
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Monitor driver performance and provide coaching and training.
- Works well under tight deadlines with a keen eye for detail and a right first-time approach.
- Good knowledge of Transport legislation.
- Experience working with third party distribution including organizing deliveries, collections and claims.
- Maintain accurate records including vehicle maintenance and fuel usage.
- Able to implement and manage change.
- Able to resource plan, ensure maximum use of resources in cost-effective manner.
- Clear communication and collaboration at all levels, e.g., customers, colleagues, and direct reports.
Experience:
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in transport role or a related field.
· Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
· Proven ability to effectively manage a team of drivers and ensure high performance.
· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient in using transportation management software and other relevant tools.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong geographical knowledge.
