The Drop-In Advisor will provide practical, responsive advice and support to individuals accessing Wirral
Change's community hub. The role focuses on helping people overcome immediate barriers by offering
information, advice and guidance on everyday issues including housing, benefits, digital access,
employment, healthcare and accessing local services.
Working as part of a friendly frontline team, the Advisor will ensure people receive timely support whilst
helping reduce isolation, improve confidence and connect individuals with longer-term opportunities
where needed.
+ Essential Skills & Experience
Experience providing advice, guidance or frontline community support.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Good digital skills and confidence supporting others online.
Ability to manage a varied workload and respond to changing priorities.
Strong written and organisational skills for maintaining accurate records.
Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and confidentiality.
+ Education
Level 3 or equivalent experience in Information, Advice & Guidance, Community Work, Customer
Advice or a related field.
Information, Advice & Guidance qualification (desirable).
Experience supporting ethnic minority communities, refugees, migrants or disadvantaged groups.
Knowledge of welfare benefits, housing, employment or community support services.
Safeguarding training.
Mental Health First Aid (desirable).
Additional community language(s) or interpreting qualification (desirable).
+ Main Duties
Deliver daily Drop-In advice and guidance sessions for members of the community.
Provide practical support with forms, letters, online applications and digital services.
Support individuals to access housing, welfare benefits, healthcare, employment, education and
other statutory services.
Help clients understand official correspondence and navigate public services.
Signpost and refer individuals to specialist organisations where appropriate.
Build trusted relationships with people from diverse ethnic minority communities.
Promote Wirral Change services, activities and volunteering opportunities.
Collect client feedback and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the project.
Work closely with colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations to ensure joined-up support.
Follow safeguarding, GDPR and organisational policies and procedures at all times.
