Job Summary
D.Wise Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to support laboratory operations by preparing samples, maintaining equipment, recording data, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting testing, research, and quality control activities while helping to maintain an efficient and organised laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, label, and organise laboratory samples and materials.
- Assist with routine laboratory testing and analysis under supervision.
- Accurately record, maintain, and update laboratory data and documentation.
- Clean, sterilise, and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and work areas.
- Monitor laboratory stock levels and assist with ordering supplies and consumables.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality management processes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in the calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Support quality control activities and investigations as required.
- Dispose of laboratory waste safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory technicians and management.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement activities.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately record and manage data.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of quality management systems.
- Experience using laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and Science.
- Relevant laboratory, scientific, or technical qualification preferred but not essential.
- Additional laboratory or health and safety training would be advantageous.
