Part-time Practice Manager, 3 days per week, for a small established London accountancy firm. Office based.
£45,000 to £55,000 full-time equivalent, which is £27,000 to £33,000 for a 3-day week.
We look after around 300 clients, mostly contractors, freelancers and small limited companies. We are growing, and we need an experienced practice manager to run the engine room so our client-facing work can keep pace.
This is a genuine practice manager role, not an office admin job. You will own the deadline calendar, the workflow system and the onboarding process, and you will be trusted to run them your way.
What you will do
Own the compliance calendar across roughly 300 clients: accounts, corporation tax, VAT, payroll, self assessment and confirmation statements
Run job tracking so every piece of work has an owner, a status and a date
Chase clients for records, firmly and charmingly
Handle new client onboarding end to end: engagement letters, AML and KYC checks, professional clearance, HMRC agent authorisations
Keep our AML records inspection ready
Raise invoices, manage direct debit collections and chase debtors
Triage the inbox and phones so technical queries reach the right person and everything else gets handled
What we are looking for
Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice. This is essential. You know what a 64-8 is, you have worked through a January, and you know a filing deadline from a payment deadline
Confident with HMRC and Companies House agent portals, and with practice software. Workflow tools such as Senta, Karbon, Engager or BrightManager are a strong plus
Organised to the point of being mildly feared by procrastinating clients
Comfortable working independently, with real autonomy from day one
AAT or bookkeeping qualifications are welcome but not required
Why you would want this one
Proper part-time seniority. A real management role on 3 days a week is rare
A small supportive team with no corporate politics
Your systems and your process. We want you to improve how we run, not just maintain it
