Your Role
We are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our team. They will work closely with the Operations Manager ensuring the smooth day to day running of the farm. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with strong organisational skills, and possess a strong work ethic.
Job Summary
The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for assisting with the efficient and safe running of farm operations. The role focuses on coordinating and managing the agricultural fleet, maintaining equipment and developing strategic plans. A strong emphasis is placed on health and safety, ensuring the well-being of all staff and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all work on the farm is conducted safely and in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and lead by example, implementing and monitoring safety protocols.
Agricultural Fleet Management:
- Oversee the daily planning and deployment of the agricultural fleet to ensure jobs are carried out safely and efficiently.
- Manage and coordinate the movement of equipment and machinery, optimising operations to meet production targets.
Fleet Maintenance:
- Schedule regular maintenance and inspections to prevent machinery breakdowns and ensure all equipment meets regulatory requirements.
- Delegate the responsibility of overseeing repairs and servicing to the team, making sure they keep precise records of all maintenance activities and part replacements.
Operational Strategy & Planning:
- Implement operational strategies that align with both seasonal and day-to-day demands.
- Assist in long-term planning to maximise productivity, taking into consideration crop cycles, weather forecasts, and resource availability.
Experience & Skills:
Essential:
- General agricultural knowledge and experience in farm operations.
- Basic mechanical skills relevant to maintaining and troubleshooting agricultural machinery.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Tractor driving experience and familiarity with operating a variety of farm machinery.
Desirable:
- Experience with scheduling and strategic planning in an agricultural setting.
- Previous farm experience is preferred; however, comprehensive training will be provided to the correct candidate.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility with working hours is required, especially during peak seasons.
