Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Care Home Cook to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Your culinary expertise will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel cared for and valued. You will be expected to work 10 hour shifts, 4 days over 7. You will be in charge of ordering and maintaining all the paperwork required in line with Health and safety and kitchen/cooking standards
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of balanced, appetizing meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences
- Plan menus in collaboration with care staff and nutritionists to ensure nutritional standards are met
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times
- Manage food inventory, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Serve meals in a friendly, respectful manner, assisting residents as needed during mealtimes
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including allergen management and sanitation protocols
- Record meal preparations, dietary notes, and any special requests or restrictions accurately
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene and sanitation
- Experience working with diverse dietary needs, including special diets for health conditions or allergies
- Background in restaurant or catering settings is highly desirable
- Familiarity with meal planning, portion control, and food presentation techniques
- Previous experience serving or assisting vulnerable populations is a plus
- Kitchen experience that demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork skills
Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
