Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Income Generation, the Community Collections & Logistics Operative is a visible and valued representative of NOAH Enterprise in the community, responsible for the safe and professional collection and delivery of stock to the appropriate NOAH department e.g. Welfare Centre, Retail Shops, eCommerce and operational network, and for building the trusted donor and partner relationships that are essential to NOAH’s income generation and community standing.
Purpose - The Community Collections & Logistics Operative ensures that donated goods reach NOAH’s departments, efficiently, and in a way that reflects NOAH’s values at every touchpoint.
The postholder plays a key role in the safety and quality of NOAH’s donated stock through PAT testing of donated electrical equipment and compliance with NOAH’s safe sorting procedure.
They manage the logistics of NOAH’s Big Blue Bin of Hope campaign, building positive relationships with host companies to encourage ongoing support, and provide practical supervision and training to volunteers and work placement holders in their crew.
The Community Collections & Logistics Operative operates NOAH Enterprise vehicles across a wide range of collection and delivery activity, including donated stock, furniture, white goods, food donations, and Big Blue Bin of Hope collections. The role is based at the Welfare Centre, Luton, with regular travel to donor addresses, NOAH retail sites, and community partner locations across Luton and Bedfordshire. The postholder carries out PAT testing of donated electrical equipment and supports the training of others in this procedure. They manage the logistics of the Big Blue Bin of Hope campaign and build active fundraising relationships with host organisations. The role involves supervising volunteers and work placement holders, acting as a safeguarding-aware community representative, and ensuring full compliance with vehicle, H&S, stock, and financial policies at all times. An enhanced DBS check is required. This is a part-time post: two positions are available (22.5 hours and 16 hours per week, Monday to Saturday as required).
Duties
1. Maintain service user‑centered excellence across all operations. Ensure high‑quality delivery at the Welfare Centre and all services through continuous improvement, strong professional boundaries, and a clear commitment to delivering timely, effective, outcomes‑focused support.
2. Embed our aspirational pillars of building our service offering to women, families, and veterans to shape future service development. Use the pillars to guide long‑term thinking, partnerships and service expansion, ensuring all plans align with NOAH’s mission and capacity.
3. Strengthen financial resilience through sustainable, unrestricted income. Grow donations, legacies, fundraising and retail income (including eCommerce), increasing unrestricted funds to reduce reliance on restricted income and allow strategic flexibility.
4. Expand strategic partnerships and explore mission‑aligned mergers. Deepen collaboration with local authorities, partner agencies and charities to enhance pathways, reduce duplication and improve outcomes; explore merger opportunities where there are synergies with homelessness and deprivation work.
5. Develop an integrated, preventative training and development model. Grow paid training across Bedfordshire, strengthen links with the Welfare Centre, introduce practical skills programmes, and invest in a Learning Management System to build confidence, prevent crisis and generate sustainable income.
Driving, Collections & Deliveries
The Community Collections & Logistics Operative will drive NOAH Enterprise vehicles safely, professionally, and in full compliance with all road traffic legislation, highway codes, and drivers’ hours regulations, completing all scheduled collections and deliveries across NOAH’s retail and operational network on time and to the highest standards of care and customer service.
They will collect donated items from a wide variety of locations, handling all goods with care and respect, ensuring that every donor feels valued and that their donation is received in a manner that reflects NOAH’s values of Care, Compassion, and Commitment.
They will ensure that all items are loaded, secured, and transported safely in line with NOAH’s load security procedures, protecting goods from damage in transit, and assist with loading and unloading at all collection and delivery points, including heavy or bulky items such as furniture and white goods.
They will deliver and distribute sorted stock to NOAH’s various shop locations and the Store Support Centre, ensuring stock is handled, counted, and recorded accurately at every stage of the process and in full compliance with NOAH’s stock policies and safe sorting procedure.
They will take payments and issue receipts for goods on delivery where required, handle all cash in accordance with NOAH’s cash handling policy, and keep accurate records of all costs incurred to the NOAH vehicle in line with NOAH’s financial policies. The driver is personally responsible for any speeding or parking fines incurred while driving the NOAH vehicle.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a warehouse environment or logistics setting
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain one quickly
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems and materials handling procedures
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs or troubleshooting on equipment
- Experience with construction sites or heavy lifting tasks is advantageous
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving protocols and load & unload procedures
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely and effectively

Pay: £26,225.00-£27,500.00 per year
