Are you an experienced Industrial Grinder looking for your next long-term opportunity?
Westwood Recruitment are recruiting skilled Industrial Grinders to join a major bridge maintenance project based in Aust, Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the UK's key infrastructure projects, carrying out essential steel preparation and maintenance works within a safety-focused environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing structural steel surfaces using grinders and other mechanical preparation tools
- Removing rust, old coatings and surface imperfections ready for protective coatings
- Grinding welds and steelwork to the required specification
- Working safely from scaffolding, access platforms and MEWPs
- Following project specifications and quality standards
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations
- Maintaining tools and equipment in a safe working condition
- Working collaboratively as part of an experienced bridge maintenance team
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience as an Industrial Grinder or Steel Prep Operative
- Valid CSCS Card
- National Highways Passport (preferred)
- Experience working on bridges, highways, rail, marine or heavy infrastructure projects
- Confident using industrial grinding equipment and hand tools
- Ability to travel to Aust, Bristol (within approximately 1.5 hours)
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Reliable, hardworking and able to work effectively as part of a team
