Stone Fabrication Manager
Location: North London
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Full-time | Permanent
We’re recruiting for a well-established, family-run natural stone specialist delivering high-quality fabrication and installation work across prestigious residential and commercial projects.
With the business continuing to grow and taking on increasingly ambitious projects, they’re now looking for an experienced Stone Fabrication Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of their North London workshop.
This is a newly created position offering genuine autonomy. You’ll be joining an exceptionally experienced and loyal team, with many employees having been with the business for over a decade.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for a workshop team of approximately 10–12 people, overseeing production, workflow, quality and the day-to-day management of the facility.
The directors have traditionally been very hands-on with the operation, but as the business grows, they’re looking for someone they can trust to take ownership of the workshop and become the first point of contact for the team.
You’ll have the freedom to manage the operation in your own way, provided you’re delivering results, maintaining quality and adding value to the business.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the stone fabrication workshop
- Leading, supporting and motivating an experienced production team
- Planning workflow and coordinating production schedules
- Ensuring projects are completed accurately and to deadline
- Maintaining exceptionally high standards of quality
- Overseeing the fabrication of natural and engineered stone products
- Managing different personalities and maintaining a positive, productive workshop environment
- Acting as the first point of contact for operational and production issues
- Identifying and resolving problems before escalation to the directors
- Ensuring machinery and equipment are operated and maintained safely
- Managing materials, stock and production requirements
- Maintaining health & safety standards and supporting risk assessments
- Reading and working from technical and construction drawings
- Using AutoCAD to support production requirements
- Working alongside installation teams where required
This isn't necessarily a role where you'll spend every minute on the workshop floor. You'll have the freedom to manage from the office where appropriate, but you must have the technical knowledge and willingness to get onto the floor when the situation requires it.
About You
Stone experience is essential for this position.
We're looking for someone who genuinely understands the craft and processes involved in stone fabrication rather than a general manufacturing manager without industry experience.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong hands-on experience within stone fabrication
- Knowledge of materials such as marble, granite, quartz, porcelain and engineered stone
- A good understanding of stone fabrication processes, machinery and equipment
- Experience leading or supervising people within a workshop or production environment
- The ability to confidently read and understand CAD drawings
- Experience with AutoCAD, including the ability to work with technical drawings
- Strong organisational and production-planning skills
- A practical approach to solving problems
- Good health & safety awareness within a manufacturing environment
Just as importantly, you'll need to be a strong but diplomatic manager.
You'll be joining a loyal, long-standing team with a broad mix of personalities, so the ability to earn people's respect, communicate effectively and get the best from experienced tradespeople will be essential.
What's On Offer?
- Competitive salary depending on experience
- A newly created position with genuine responsibility and autonomy
- The opportunity to take ownership of an established stone fabrication operation
- Long-term stability within a successful family-run business
- Supportive and loyal directors who give their managers room to operate
- An experienced, long-serving team
- The opportunity to work on increasingly large and prestigious projects
- 28 days' holiday including bank holidays
- Two-week Christmas shutdown
- Supportive, family-oriented working environment

Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am – 12:00pm when operationally required
