Older People Active Lives (OPAL) is a local charity with a strong reputation and track record of providing a range of impactful services and activities for older people and their carers. We work in the rural areas of West Cheshire, with a small team of staff and around 200 volunteers. We are working to reduce social isolation and loneliness by delivering social activities and support in the home, all with the aim of enhancing people’s health and wellbeing. Part Time staff vacancy
Our Carer Support Service delivers an At Home service, a sitting service, alongside a programme of well organised events and activities to unpaid Carers who are supporting relatives and / or people with dementia across rural West Cheshire.
Due to retirement, we are recruiting a Carer Support Organiser to grow and develop the At Home service. The role will support unpaid Carers and the people they care for by matching them to a volunteer who will sit with the Cared For person to provide respite for the Carer. The postholder will work closely with the Carer Support Organiser who is responsible for delivering the events and outings in order to drive forward and develop our support of unpaid Carers of older people across rural West Cheshire.
Ideally you will have knowledge and experience, or lived experience, of working with people living with dementia, you should be well organised, a good communicator, able to engage with a wide range of people in a supportive and empathetic way, be computer literate and have use of a vehicle.
The post is 18 hours per week, with some flexibility during core hours, subject to meeting the operational needs and priorities of the service. The role is home based for administrative purposes and at venues across rural West Cheshire dependent on the programme of specific events.
