Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our cleaning company. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, exceptional organisational skills, and a proven track record in people management, administration, and business operations. The successful applicant will play a key role in staff management, financial oversight, sales monitoring, marketing coordination, and maintaining operational excellence throughout the business.
Duties
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the cleaning company, ensuring smooth and efficient business performance.
- Manage staff recruitment, training, supervision, and ongoing support to maintain a motivated and high-performing team.
- Handle staff queries, approve holiday requests, issue contracts, and ensure staff files and records are kept accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate recruitment activity, including placing job adverts, reviewing applications, and interviewing new team members.
- Manage escalations and, where necessary, support disciplinary procedures in consultation with the Business Owner and legal support services.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Managing Director to review weekly statistics and 6-week revenue reports to support business planning and future growth.
- Monitor budgets and targets, helping to identify opportunities to improve performance and profitability.
- Ensure quarterly marketing activity is planned effectively and delivered in line with the agreed budget.
- Oversee key business administration duties, including completing and approving payroll.
- Review automated payment systems, monitor outstanding or bounced payments, and follow up with customers regarding overdue accounts.
Experience
- Proven experience in a management role, ideally within cleaning, facilities management, service delivery, or a similar operational environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in recruitment, training, staff supervision, and performance management.
- Demonstrable administrative experience, including payroll oversight, record keeping, contract management, and handling operational queries.
- Good commercial awareness, with experience monitoring budgets, targets, revenue reports, and business performance.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in customer payment follow-up, escalations management, and maintaining high service standards would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of marketing coordination and business growth planning would be beneficial.

Pay: £26,153.94-£32,000.00 per year
