We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Chef to join our team and provide nutritious, fresh and appealing meals for our residents.
Position: Chef
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour
Working Pattern: Alternative weekends
Location: Merton Place Care Home, Colwyn Bay
The Role
As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals that meet the individual dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements of our residents.
Your duties will include:
- Preparing fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals each day
- Planning and preparing menus in line with residents' dietary requirements and preferences
- Catering for special diets, allergies and food intolerances
- Preparing meals with appropriate textures and consistency for residents who require modified diets
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety
- Ensuring food is stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with food safety regulations
- Managing kitchen stock and minimising food waste
- Working within agreed food budgets
- Maintaining accurate kitchen and food safety records
- Working closely with care staff to understand residents' individual dietary needs
- Creating meals that are not only nutritious but enjoyable and appetising
- Supporting a welcoming mealtime experience for residents
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about cooking and providing quality food
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Caring and respectful towards older people
- Able to work as part of a wider care home team
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene and safe food preparation
- Comfortable catering for a range of dietary requirements
- Able to maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen
Previous experience working as a Chef, particularly within a care home or similar setting, is desirable.
