Job Description – Night Receptionist
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant Manager
Hours *Part-Time* Night Shift: *9:45 pm – 7:45 am*
Role Purpose:
The Night Receptionist is responsible for ensuring the smooth overnight operation of the hostel by providing excellent customer service, maintaining security, completing administrative and financial tasks, and preparing the property for the following day's operations. The role requires strong attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services:
* Welcome and check in late-arriving guests in a friendly and professional manner.
* Verify guest identification and process guest payments.
* Provide guests with information about hostel facilities, house rules and check-out procedures.
Administration:
* Complete end-of-day reception procedures, including cash handling and till balancing.
* Prepare registration cards and room key cards for upcoming arrivals.
* Maintain accurate guest records and complete overnight administrative tasks.
Financial Responsibilities:
* Process guest payments and Virtual Credit Card (VCC) transactions.
* Maintain accurate financial records and ensure overnight transactions are completed correctly.
Security:
* Conduct regular security checks of the building and surrounding property to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and staff.
Waste Management:
* Manage rubbish and recycling, including emptying internal bins and placing collection bins out in accordance with the scheduled collection days.
Systems Used:
* Cloudbeds Property Management System
* EFTPOS/Card Payment System
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
* High level of honesty, reliability and attention to detail.
* Confidence handling cash and card payments.
Desirable
* Previous reception or hospitality experience.
* Experience using a Property Management System (preferably Cloudbeds).
* Previous hostel or hotel experience.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and carry light items and perform general operational duties as required.

Pay: From £14.10 per hour
