We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Dental Nurse to join our thriving, patient-focused practice. This opportunity is open to both established Head Dental Nurses and experienced dental nurses who are ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
As a key member of the team, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of clinical operations, supporting both patients and colleagues, and maintaining the highest standards of care.
About the Role
This is a varied position combining leadership, organisation, and clinical work. You will work closely with the Practice Owner, Treatment Coordinator, and clinicians to ensure seamless delivery of services, while also contributing clinically for part of your working week.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care
- Provide high-quality chairside support as part of your weekly duties
- Oversee the dental nursing team to ensure clinical protocols and infection control standards are consistently met
- Promote a positive, patient-centred experience at all times
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and support the dental nursing team
- Coordinate training and continuing professional development
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations and clinical governance standards
- Manage and monitor ROE/POE/CPD processes across the team
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of dental equipment and ensure effective usage and upkeep
Practice Coordination
- Take responsibility for stock control and weekly ordering of materials and equipment
- Support diary management and staff rota planning (delegated responsibilities)
- Build strong working relationships across the practice
About You
- GDC registered with a recognised Dental Nursing qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in dental nursing
- Either prior experience in a Head Dental Nurse role, or a clear readiness to step into a leadership position
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator with a proactive and supportive approach
- Good working knowledge of dental equipment and clinical processes
