Due to on-going expansion, MTI Tech Ltd are looking for an ambitious Business Development professional to drive new business and manage some existing accounts.
The ideal candidate will lead initiatives to generate and engage with business partners to build new business & accounts for the company. This candidate will be focused and have strong communication skills, and must be able to manage their own workload. They should be able to think critically when making plans and have a demonstrated ability to execute a particular strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and target new business opportunities within the UK Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractor market.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads through outbound calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and other sales activities.
- Ensure that MTI are on all Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction and M&E companies supplier lists and compliance with required certifications (ISO9001 / ConstructionOnline Gold).
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with existing clients to maximise retention and identify upsell opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, quotations, and presentations tailored to client requirements.
- Work closely with the operations and technical teams to ensure solutions presented accurately reflect company capabilities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inbound enquiries, qualifying leads and progressing them through the sales cycle.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system, including call logs, pipeline status, and client communications.
- Monitor the market, competitor activity, and industry trends to inform the business development strategy.
- Attend industry events, exhibitions, and client meetings as required (occasional travel may be necessary).
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets and KPIs.
- Produce regular sales reports and activity updates for senior management.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a business development, sales, or account management role.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a confident and professional telephone manner.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to close sales.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using a CRM system.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and resilient with a positive attitude.
- Ability to understand and articulate technical products and services to a non-technical audience.
Desirable
- Experience selling into the construction, infrastructure, utilities, or facilities management sectors.
- Familiarity with communication solutions, two-way radio, lone worker protection, or site safety technology.
- Understanding of how Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors operate and procure services.
- Experience with tendering or framework procurement processes.

The role will be based in East Devon and the successful applicant would live locally. No candidates based further than 20 miles will be considered.
Starting salary is between £27,500 and £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Role comes with a 6 months probation period, and salary upon successful completion of the probation period would be increased inline with performance review to £33,000 per annum, with a commission structure put in place.
