Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Coordinator to organise and oversee engaging activities for residents within our residential Care Home.
Main Objectives of the Post
· To initiate, co-ordinate and provide a wide range of individual and group activities for service users aimed at meeting their physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs.
· To understand the need of promoting the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all the service users.
· To motivate and guide the care staff to participate in the home activity programme, incorporating it into the daily lives of service users.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and implement a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic programmes that promote socialisation and engagement.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and abilities, ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible.
- Maintain organised records of activities conducted, resident participation, and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages participation and enhances residents’ sense of community.
- Stay informed about best practices in, dementia support, and activity programming to ensure high standards of service delivery.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a Care Home is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of senior care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated organisational skills to plan and execute diverse activity programmes efficiently.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful engagement.
