The Blacksmiths Arms is a busy village pub serving freshly prepared, seasonal food in a relaxed and welcoming environment. As part of The Cornish Arms Group, we’re passionate about quality, teamwork and creating a kitchen where everyone plays an important role.
We’re looking for reliable, hardworking Kitchen Porters / Kitchen Assistants to join our team. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time hours, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly and supporting our chefs in delivering exceptional food every day.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position where you’ll help maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen while supporting the chefs throughout service.
Key Responsibilities
- Washing pots, pans, crockery and kitchen equipment
- Operating and maintaining the dishwasher
- Keeping kitchen, pot wash and storage areas clean and organised
- Assisting chefs with basic food preparation and mise en place
- Receiving and putting away deliveries
- Stock rotation and general kitchen organisation
- Removing waste and recycling safely
- Supporting the team during busy service periods
- Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times

- Previous kitchen experience is an advantage but not essential—full training will be provided.
Hours
We have both full-time and part-time positions available, with a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend shifts. We aim to offer flexible rotas where possible while meeting the needs of the business.

Location
The Blacksmiths Arms is located in Lamerton, just outside Tavistock. Due to our rural location and limited public transport, applicants should have reliable transport or be able to commute consistently.
