Here at University Hospitals Dorset, we are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join our Cancer Pharmacy team as Deputy Lead Pharmacy Technician for Cancer Protocols, Electronic Prescribing Systems and Aseptic Outsourcing.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the safe and effective delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy services across oncology and haematology. The post holder will support cancer protocol governance, electronic prescribing systems, Ready to Administer checking processes and the development of aseptic outsourcing pathways.
The role will suit a registered Pharmacy Technician with hospital pharmacy experience, strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and an interest in cancer services, digital systems, governance and service transformation.

The post holder will support the delivery, development and continuous improvement of a high-quality, safe and responsive Cancer Pharmacy service.
The main duties will include supporting the maintenance, review and amendment of SACT protocols within Trust electronic prescribing systems, including MOSAIQ and Epic, ensuring alignment with approved regimens, governance processes, formulary requirements and version control standards.
The post holder will undertake technical accuracy checking of Ready to Administer SACT preparations, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with approved protocols and local policies, escalating any discrepancies or concerns appropriately.
They will also support the development, coordination and operational management of aseptic outsourcing pathways for cancer medicines. This will include liaison with external providers, supporting implementation processes, maintaining governance requirements and contributing to service resilience, transformation and capacity planning.
The role will involve working closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, aseptic services, procurement teams, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will also support the training, supervision and development of pharmacy staff working within Cancer Services.

The successful candidate will support Cancer Pharmacy services through a dual operational and governance-focused role, contributing to SACT protocol management, electronic prescribing system support, Ready to Administer checking and aseptic outsourcing pathways.
They will be expected to work independently within their scope of practice, manage competing priorities, support the daily operational rota, assist with training and competency development, and contribute to audits, key performance indicators, quality improvement and service development.
The ideal candidate will have hospital pharmacy experience, GPhC registration, accredited medicines management and checking technician qualifications, and experience of supporting training, SOP development, audit or multidisciplinary working. Experience in cancer care, aseptic services, PIPC, PAAP, data analysis or report writing would be desirable
