Contract type and working pattern: Permanent
Salary: Remunerated at £9,000 per annum
Annual Leave: 28 days (pro rata)
Commitment: 1 day per month
Location: Flexible / Hybrid (attendance at key meetings required). When necessary to attend evening meetings.
The appointment to the role will include a three-month probationary period in which a regular review of mutual performance will be monitored and if after this period, the conditions of the probationary period are met, it will become a permanent post.

The ACP is the professional membership body and accredited register for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in the UK. We have been working to improve the mental health of infants, children, young people and families since 1949.
The Board of Directors is seeking to appoint a Chair of the Association of Child Psychotherapists. This is a key role for the profession and an opportunity to contribute to and lead on the development of the future of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. We are keen to hear from experienced individuals with the drive, commitment, and leadership skills to become our next Chair.
The ACP has recently undertaken an organisational review, during which the Chair role has been reconfigured to provide a clearer focus on its core strategic responsibilities. The Chair would lead a renewed Board of appointed, passionate and highly skilled professional CAPT and Lay board members, who are all keen to deliver on the ACP business plan with clear strategic aims.
The Chair is responsible for leading the effective operation of the Board, ensuring strong governance, and supporting the delivery of the ACP's strategic priorities and business plan. The role will also involve using and developing leadership skills in line-managing the Vice Chair (when appointed). The Chair is supported by a Chief Executive, Executive Management Team and professional staff team.
Key aspects of the role are:
- Work in collaboration with the CEO, Executive Team and Board to set the strategic plan and promote the development of the ACP on behalf of the membership and the wider community.
- Ensuring the good governance and smooth running of the ACP Board including chairing the Board meetings and the AGM.
- Promoting the work of child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapists and actions to increase services for infants, children, young people and families.
- Providing leadership to increase equality, diversity and inclusion in the profession and its representation across the UK and overseas and in all sectors.
