Sales & Events Manager
Doyle’s Bar
Based: Solihull, with responsibility for multiple Doyle’s locations
Hours: Full-time position. Part-time considered for the right candidate.
About Doyle’s
Doyle’s is a growing independent bar business focused on creating busy, energetic venues built around live sport, entertainment, events and great hospitality.
We’re looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Sales & Events Manager to join our team and take ownership of driving bookings, events and additional revenue across our venues.
The role will be based at Doyle’s Bar in Solihull, while also supporting and generating sales for our other locations remotely.
The Role
This is a proactive sales role rather than simply an events administration position.
You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, generating enquiries, converting leads into bookings and developing events and partnerships that bring more customers into our venues.
You’ll work closely with venue managers to maximise quieter trading periods as well as capitalising on key dates, major sporting events and peak occasions.
A major part of the role will be building relationships with local businesses, organisations, sports clubs, universities, societies and other groups that could regularly use our venues.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Bookings
- Proactively generate new business and event enquiries.
- Convert incoming enquiries into confirmed bookings.
- Grow group bookings, parties, corporate events and private hires.
- Sell our event spaces, drinks packages, food packages and entertainment options.
- Follow up enquiries quickly and maintain an active sales pipeline.
- Contact previous customers and develop repeat business.
- Identify opportunities to upsell bookings and increase spend per head.
- Work towards agreed booking, sales and revenue targets.
Events
- Develop and sell events including birthdays, celebrations, corporate events, Christmas parties, leaving parties, student events and large group bookings.
- Help create new event packages and experiences.
- Identify opportunities around major sporting fixtures, bank holidays, Christmas, Freshers, race days and other key calendar dates.
- Coordinate larger bookings with venue management teams to ensure events are delivered successfully.
- Develop ideas that can be rolled out across multiple Doyle’s venues.
Business Development
- Build relationships with local businesses and employers.
- Develop partnerships with sports teams, societies, clubs and community organisations.
- Proactively approach potential corporate customers.
- Build relationships with hotels, offices, event organisers and other businesses that can generate referrals.
- Look for opportunities to increase midweek and daytime trade.
- Represent Doyle’s professionally at networking and business events where appropriate.
Multi-Site Support
- Be based primarily from our Solihull venue.
- Remotely manage sales activity and enquiries for other Doyle’s locations.
- Maintain regular communication with General Managers regarding upcoming bookings and opportunities.
- Ensure leads are followed up consistently across all venues.
- Visit other Doyle’s locations when required.
Marketing & Promotion
- Work alongside management and marketing to promote events and booking opportunities.
- Help develop offers and packages that generate enquiries.
- Support social media campaigns relating to events, parties and venue hire.
- Build databases of potential corporate and group customers.
- Promote upcoming events directly to relevant organisations and customer groups.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for somebody who is confident, organised, commercially focused and genuinely enjoys selling.
The ideal candidate will have experience within hospitality, events, sales, business development or venue management, although attitude and ability are equally important.
You should be:
- Confident speaking to customers and businesses by phone, email and in person.
- Comfortable proactively approaching potential customers rather than waiting for enquiries.
- Target and results driven.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple enquiries simultaneously.
- A strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
- Creative and able to identify new sales opportunities.
- Commercially aware and comfortable negotiating and closing bookings.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload.
- Confident using booking systems, email, spreadsheets and CRM-style sales tracking.
- Interested in hospitality, events, live entertainment and sport.
Previous experience in hospitality sales, venue sales, events, business development or corporate bookings would be particularly advantageous.
Working Pattern
This is primarily a full-time position, based at Doyle’s Bar in Solihull.
As hospitality is a seven-day business, some flexibility will be required around major events and important bookings. However, much of the role will be focused around the times when businesses and customers can be contacted and sales generated.
We would also consider a part-time position for an exceptional candidate, particularly somebody with strong existing experience in hospitality or events sales.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary dependent on experience.
- Opportunity to earn additional incentives based on sales performance.
- A high level of autonomy to develop the sales function.
- The opportunity to work across a growing independent hospitality business.
- Staff benefits and discounts.
- The chance to develop new events, packages and commercial partnerships.
- Career progression as Doyle’s expands into further locations.
What Success Looks Like
Ultimately, this role has a simple objective:
Get more people booking, celebrating and holding events at Doyle’s.
We want someone who can build a strong pipeline of business, increase the number and value of bookings across our venues, develop long-term corporate and group relationships and turn quieter trading periods into revenue opportunities.
If you’re outgoing, commercially minded and enjoy the challenge of turning conversations into sales, we’d love to hear from you.
