About Us
Nettlebed Surgery is a well-established, friendly rural GP practice serving approx 4000 patients within a five-mile radius. We are a dispensing practice with a strong community ethos and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
We pride ourselves on maintaining traditional family practice values while embracing modern general practice transformation and digital innovation. We work closely with our Patient Participation Group and local partners to continually improve our services.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking Practice Manager to lead the operational, financial, and strategic management of the surgery.
You will work closely with the GPs to ensure the safe, effective and compliant delivery of services, maintaining high standards of governance in line with NHS and CQC requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall operational management of the practice
- Strategic planning and business development
- Financial management, budgeting and payroll oversight
- HR leadership including recruitment, appraisals and performance management
- Ensuring compliance with CQC, NHS England and statutory requirements
- Oversight of data protection, confidentiality and GDPR compliance
- Safeguarding governance and staff training
- Complaints management and patient engagement
- Business continuity planning
- Leadership of administrative and reception teams
Quality Improvement & Audit
The Practice Manager will play a central role in quality assurance and continuous improvement, including:
- Coordinating and overseeing clinical and non-clinical audits
- Supporting GP Partners with QOF monitoring and performance review
- Ensuring completion of annual audit cycles
- Monitoring significant events and learning outcomes
- Preparing evidence for CQC inspections
- Leading internal compliance audits (HR, safeguarding, health & safety, prescribing governance, etc.)
- Ensuring policies are reviewed and updated in line with statutory requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in general practice management or senior healthcare management
- Demonstrates strong leadership and organisational skills
- Has sound knowledge of NHS contracts (GMS/PMS), QOF and primary care finance
- Understands employment law and HR processes
- Has experience with EMIS and primary care IT systems (desirable)
- Is confident managing regulatory compliance including CQC standards
- Demonstrates excellent communication and team-building skills
- Is committed to equality, confidentiality, and high standards of governance
- Has experience in audits and clinical governance processes.
Experience in a dispensing practice would be advantageous but is not essential.
