Experienced Practice Accountant (Remote)

Rauds Business Solutions is a modern, growing accountancy practice based in Edinburgh, providing accounts, taxation, VAT, payroll and business advisory services to a wide range of small and medium-sized businesses across the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join our team in a predominantly remote role.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical accounting work and wants the flexibility of working from home, without the pressures of business development or office politics.
The Role
This is a production-focused role where you will prepare year-end accounts and tax returns for a varied portfolio of clients.
The majority of your work will involve taking a completed trial balance from Xero and preparing:
- Statutory Accounts
- Corporation Tax (CT600) Returns
- Self Assessment Tax Returns
You'll work independently from home while remaining part of a friendly and supportive practice team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for Limited Companies, Sole Traders and Partnerships.
- Prepare Corporation Tax (CT600) returns.
- Prepare Self Assessment Tax Returns.
- Review trial balances and post year-end journals where required.
- Prepare working papers supporting completed accounts.
- Ensure accounts comply with current UK accounting standards.
- Liaise with the office where additional client information is required.
- Maintain accurate electronic working papers.
- Meet filing deadlines and maintain excellent quality standards.
Performance Expectations
This is a production-based role with clear monthly completion targets.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working efficiently, managing their own workload and consistently producing high-quality work.
Performance will be measured by:
- Meeting agreed monthly completion targets.
- Accuracy and quality of completed accounts and tax returns.
- Meeting client deadlines.
- Maintaining excellent working papers and file quality.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- A minimum of 5 years' recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts from trial balance through to finalisation.
- Experience preparing Corporation Tax (CT600) returns.
- Experience preparing Self Assessment Tax Returns.
- Excellent knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
ACA, ACCA, AAT or Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidates are all welcome to apply.
Essential Requirement
