Overall job purpose
To lead and manage the delivery and implementation of data protection compliant schools through developing strategic and operational compliance programmes required by European and UK legislation.
Schools must appoint or designate a suitably experienced and qualified Data Protection Officer. The purpose of the role is to enable schools to comply with their statutory duties. The data protection challenges facing schools are unprecedented, with a new, rigorous statutory regime and enforcement framework.
The role leads and manages the provision to Schools with –
- Advice & guidance (by phone, e-mail) on data protection legislation; Advice, guidance and assistance concerning responding to data subject rights to the headteachers of the 44 Schools across Ynys Mon;
- To lead and manage the data protection complaints process for the schools across Ynys Mon;
- To act as a point of contact for sector regulators such as the Information Commissioner and the Surveillance Camera Commissioner;
- Assurance of compliance with data protection legislation;
- Support in the event of a data breach, or other breach of the legislation.
In addition, the role with act as the Deputy Data Protection Officer for the County Council during the absence of the Data Protection Officer when required.
