QUALITY CONTROLLER
Newberry International Produce Ltd are pleased to present this opportunity for a motivated and adaptable Quality Controller to join our multi award winning frozen fruit, smoothie & vegetable manufacturing company currently based in our purposed built state of the art facility in Ledbury.
Hours: Full time – Permanent (Weekly rotating shifts - Earlies 5.30-1400/Lates 1400-22.30)
The occasional Saturday may be necessary, depending on production requirements
Pay: £13.75/hour
Job Role: As part of our technical team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the products and development processes, you will be responsible for promoting food safety and good manufacturing practices.
Work as part of a team to ensure the goals of the department are achieved daily and the working environment remains clean and safe.
Duties include:
Start Up
· Start-up checks for packing room including fail safe
· Ensuring x-ray, metal detector, check-weigh and label applicator are set up correctly
· Ensuring correct film is used and batch set up as required
· Ensuring labels are correctly issued and applied as per the procedure
Process
· Overlooking decant process and providing quality training when necessary
· Working to procedures to ensure the product being packed is within customer specification
· Monitoring CCP and reporting any issues
· Monitoring of production process as required to ensure products are correctly processed, as per company and customer requirements
· Monitoring temperature and reporting any issues
· Conduct accurate inspections of finished product & packaging to positive release pallets against customer specifications
· Completing relevant paperwork to always ensure full traceability
· Assisting with setting up programs for new products on x-ray, MD and check weigher
Sampling
· Accurate recording and monitoring of retention samples and keeping designated sample area organized and tidy.
· Prepare samples from raw material and finish product for testing in a timely manner
· Assist with customer samples preparation.
Auditing & Non-Conforming
· GMP & GHP audits assistance
· Ensure the production environment and our internal auditing standards are maintained daily by working closely and effectively with the departmental teams
· Liaising with other departments as and when necessary
· Communicating non-conformances to the Quality Coordinator & Shifts Managers
Hygiene
· Reporting staff hygiene issues to Quality Coordinator and Shift Managers
· Monitoring hygiene by following good practices and working to required hygiene standards.
· Organizing monthly swabs according to schedule
· Ensure that all QC equipment is maintained and used in the correct manner and returned to the appropriate storage point at the close of shift.
Other
· Radiation monitoring
Who we are looking for:
- It would be advantageous to have a food manufacturing related qualification.
- Have a good understanding of BRCGS and food retailer codes of practices.
- To be able to communicate both verbally and written in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office
- Previous experience of working with or implementing SOP’s.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
