ABOUT THE ROLE
The Upgrade Authority is building a connected group of property businesses and technology products. UpgradedPM manages short-let and Airbnb properties, while our wider group is developing products across guest stays, property operations and market intelligence.
We are hiring a Marketing & Communications Manager to understand what we do properly and help more people hear about it. UpgradedPM will be your immediate priority: building its reputation, attracting property owners and turning the work happening every day into useful, credible marketing.
This is not a role where you spend the week scheduling generic social posts. Some days you will be writing a press pitch or case study; others you may be visiting a property to take photographs and video, speaking to the operations team, preparing a product launch or following up with a publisher.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Learn our services, products, customers and commercial priorities in enough depth to explain them clearly.
- Visit properties and capture high-quality photographs, short videos, before-and-after material and behind-the-scenes content.
- Manage LinkedIn and the social channels that genuinely help the business, maintaining a consistent and natural voice.
- Find strong stories in our property operations and research, then pitch them to journalists, publishers and relevant industry websites.
- Build genuine relationships with media, partners and complementary businesses.
- Secure relevant editorial coverage, citations and backlinks through worthwhile stories and collaborations—not mass-produced outreach.
- Produce case studies, sales materials, product pages, presentations, email content and launch materials.
- Help turn our property data and research into accessible reports, articles and press angles.
- Maintain a clear editorial and outreach pipeline, follow opportunities through and keep accurate records.
- Track what marketing activity contributes to qualified property-owner enquiries, partnerships, coverage and revenue.
- Spend time alongside day-to-day operations so the marketing reflects what the business actually does.
- Participate in the shared out-of-hours support rota and help with urgent guest or operational issues when scheduled.
HOURS AND OUT-OF-HOURS ROTA
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm. The role also includes participation in a shared out-of-hours support rota, which may occasionally cover evenings or weekends. This is not intended to be a second shift. When rota work causes meaningful disruption or additional working time, recovery time is provided through time off in lieu.
ABOUT YOU
You are a strong, natural writer who can make a complicated product understandable without making it sound corporate or artificial. You are comfortable speaking to people, asking useful questions and following up persistently.
YOU WILL NEED TO BE:
- Confident taking photographs and filming and editing useful short-form video.
- Organised enough to manage several stories, campaigns and conversations without constant chasing.
- Comfortable contacting journalists, partners and businesses by email, phone and LinkedIn.
- Commercially aware: you understand that attention only matters when it builds trust, demand or useful relationships.
- Able to work independently while taking feedback without becoming precious about the work.
- Interested in property, hospitality, technology or data and willing to learn the details.
- Able to travel around Bristol during the working day for property visits and content capture.
- Comfortable participating in an occasional out-of-hours rota.
- A holder of a full UK driving licence with access to a reliable vehicle. Business mileage will be reimbursed.
Previous marketing, communications, PR, journalism or content experience is useful, but we care more about judgement, initiative and the quality of your work than a particular degree or job title. A strong portfolio or examples of writing, photography, video, media outreach or campaigns will help.
Experience with LinkedIn, basic SEO, website content, analytics, Canva or Adobe tools is helpful but not essential. Strong spoken and written English is required.
