Overview
Gravel Pit Farm AD Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled HGV, Heavy Plant and Agricultural Machinery Fitter/Mechanic. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of HGVs, agricultural machinery and plant equipment, ensuring optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong mechanical and electrical expertise to work in a dynamic environment that values safety, efficiency, and technical proficiency.
Duties
- Identify and respond to maintenance and repair requirements within the fleet.
- Support drivers and machinery operators in the reporting and recording of breakdowns, defects and maintenance requirements.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency situations, including during out-of-hours operations.
- Work with the Transport and Operations Managers to ensure compliance with Operator Licence requirements, roadworthiness and fleet availability.
- Accurately complete rectification reports, asset history records and submit parts orders. Knowledge of R2C maintenance platform highly desirable.
- Respond to fleet tyre requirements including blow-outs and flats, identifying un-roadworthy tyres, and maintaining a stock of tyres and rims ready for emergencies.
Role Requirements
This is a dynamic role which requires good communication skills and adaptability. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with good initiative and ability to prioritise work load.
We are a supportive and adaptable family-run team, and we are happy to accommodate candidates of varied experience who have an excellent work ethic. Experience with eight wheeler tippers is highly desirable - major repairs and maintenance are mostly covered by service contracts, however opportunities are available for more experienced candidates to use their knowledge and skills. To ensure fleet availability the ideal candidate must be able to accommodate working out of 'normal' hours when required.
