We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and conscientious practitioner to join us within the 0-19 Children’s Universal Health Service.
The Milton Keynes School Nursing Service provides a universal and specialist service to school aged children attending an education provision or being home schooled in Milton Keynes . The service is available all year round, Monday – Friday, 9-5pm, excluding bank holidays.
We are looking for compassionate individuals who can demonstrate excellent communication skills and are able to work as part of a skill mixed team to deliver the Healthy Child Programme (HCP). Alongside your team, you will work with various partner agencies to achieve best health outcomes for school aged children and their families across Milton Keynes.
Previous experience of working in the community is desirable but not essential as you will receive full training and an excellent induction package. In addition, you will receive regular clinical, managerial and safeguarding supervision .
This is a permanent position but may also be an excellent opportunity to gain experience for an individual interested in undertaking a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) course in School Nursing in the future.
Interprofessional working to deliver the Healthy Child Programme and safeguard children
Managing a clinical caseload
Implementing and evaluating programmes of care
Delivering evidence-based health promotion advice
Undertaking holistic assessments, identifying health needs, parenting capacity and family / environmental factors
Work closely alongside locality School Nurses undertaking delegated work and also working under own initiative.
