Shop Assistant — Weigh to Wear
Job Overview
Weigh to Wear is a clothing store with a twist: all our clothes are brand new, and we sell them by the kilo. We're looking for a friendly, outgoing, and energetic Shop Assistant/Cashier to join our team and be the face of the store. This isn't a stand-behind-the-till-and-wait role — you'll be talking to everyone who walks through the door, explaining how we work, helping people find pieces they love, and getting them excited about our fresh stock. If you love chatting with people, have an eye for style, and aren't shy in front of a camera, this one's for you.
You'll also help us grow our presence online by filming fun, engaging content for our TikTok and Instagram. This role is a great fit for someone who wants hands-on retail experience in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Duties
- Greet every customer warmly and explain the kilo model — how we sell our brand new clothes by weight, how they pick their pieces, weigh them, and get their price
- Operate the till, process payments accurately, and handle cash and card transactions
- Weigh customers' selections and calculate prices correctly
- Film and create engaging short-form content (TikToks, Reels) to promote the store, our stock, and our brand
- Keep the shop floor organised, restocked, and looking inviting in line with our merchandising standards
- Restock hangers and help out in the stock room whenever needed
- Answer customer queries in person, by phone, and across social media with energy and professionalism
- Manage stock levels, sort and restock incoming items, and keep the store tidy throughout the day
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required
- Support the team with day-to-day tasks to keep things running smoothly
Requirements
- Confident, social, and outgoing — you must be comfortable approaching and speaking with every customer who enters the store to explain how the kilo model works. This is a core part of the job, so timid or reserved personalities won't be the right fit
- Content creation skills — you know how to film and edit engaging TikToks and Reels, and you're happy being on camera
- Hands-on and flexible — you must be open to restocking hangers and helping in the stock room when needed; no job is too small
- Strong communication skills and a genuine, friendly manner with customers
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and weighing accurately
- Good organisational skills to manage stock and keep the store presentable
- Solid time management to stay on top of tasks during busy periods
- Reliable, proactive, and a strong team player
- An interest in fashion and keeping up with trends is a big plus
- Fluency in English
- Previous retail or social media experience is a bonus but not essential — attitude matters most
Pay: £12.71 per hour
