Overview
We are seeking someone with experience in the Kitchen and a number of other candidates who are looking to work as servers and baristas within the cafe, to assist with serving and point of sale. The chef will be expected to deliver high-quality meals and exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a keen eye for cleanliness and a willingness to learn. The permanent chef role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment, contributing to the preparation, cooking and presentation of delicious dishes. The server roles will be suited to candidates who are looking for extra income, with scope to gain a contract with us in the long term. Previous experience in catering, cafe, or restaurant settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities of the Chef:
- Lead meal preparation and food safety procedures to ensure high standards are maintained
- Be on top of Ingredient organisation, washing, peeling, and chopping
- Help with the cleaning and sanitising of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
- Prepare food, ensuring portion control and presentation standards are met
- Restock supplies and organise storage areas to maintain an efficient workflow
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with various kitchen tasks as needed
Responsibilities of the Server:
- Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
- Take and process food and beverage orders.
- Serve meals, coffee and other beverages.
- Operate the POS system and process payments.
- Maintain a clean, organised dining and service area.
- Restock supplies and assist with opening and closing duties.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and barista staff.
- Follow food safety, sanitation and health standards.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience in a fast-paced environment.
Skills for both roles:
- Experience or familiarity with catering, cooking, or restaurant / cafe environments is desirable
- Strong understanding of food preparation and safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn new culinary techniques and procedures
- Basic knowledge of serving procedures and customer service principles
