Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Class 1 LGV Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. The role covers a variety of work covering both refrigerated distribution and live bird haulage. Whilst experience of either of these is an advantage it is not essential as full training will be given. In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating large goods vehicles (LGVs) to transport goods efficiently across various routes. Your expertise in commercial driving and delivery will ensure timely deliveries, uphold safety standards, and contribute to the smooth operation of our distribution network.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 Large Goods Vehicles (LGVs) to deliver goods to multiple destinations in a timely manner
- Load and unload cargo, including flatbed loads, ensuring secure and proper handling of all items
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain safety and compliance with legal requirements
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures during transit
- Complete delivery documentation accurately and promptly, including delivery logs and route sheets
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle throughout your shift
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver background
- Valid Class 1 LGV license with a clean driving record
- Experience with flatbed transportation is highly desirable
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for large vehicle operation
- Familiarity with route planning, GPS navigation, and time management skills
- Ability to handle physical demands of loading/unloading cargo and long hours on the road
