Experienced Van Delivery Driver – Central London Route

About the Role
Metro Fixings is looking for an experienced, dependable Van Delivery Driver to take ownership of one of our central London delivery routes.
This isn't a regional multi-drop parcel gig—it's a dedicated commercial route delivering fixings, tools, and construction supplies directly to active building sites and commercial clients across Central London. You will be driving a company vehicle, starting early to beat the worst of the commuter rush, and representing the business face-to-face with our long-standing customers.
Important Location Note: This role will initially operate out of our Welwyn Garden City depot. However, we have an imminent site relocation planned, and the position will permanently operate out of our new Luton premises before the end of the calendar year. Applicants must be comfortably able to commute to both locations.
What We Need From You
- Essential Experience: Proven experience driving commercial light goods vehicles (3.5t vans) on tight, busy commercial routes.
- London Navigation Knowledge: Extensive, practical knowledge of Central London routes, loading zones, red routes, and congestion areas. You know how to navigate the city efficiently without relying solely on sat-nav.
- Early Riser: Comfortable with early morning starts to ensure site deliveries arrive on schedule.
- Physical Fitness: The job involves manual handling—loading, unloading, and offloading heavy fixings and construction materials at customer sites.
- Professional Attitude: Reliable, punctual, and comfortable dealing directly with site managers and trade customers.
- Clean Driving License: Full UK driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years (clean or low points).
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, and transport goods from the depot to central London sites.
- Execute timely morning deliveries while navigating traffic, parking restrictions, and site access constraints.
- Complete basic vehicle checks (fluids, tyres, lights) and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Offload materials safely at customer premises, ensuring accurate sign-offs and paperwork.
- Assist the warehouse team with final vehicle loading during depot prep.
