About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated and practical Operations Assistant to oversee the day-to-day running of our mushroom farm at Summer Hall. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a passion for sustainable mushroom cultivation.
Working closely with our Mushroom Farm Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring optimal conditions for mushroom growth, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and helping with development as the farm continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the mushroom growing process from preparation to harvest
- Ensure cleanliness of all growing tents, tools, and equipment to maintain sterile conditions
- Follow precise cultivation protocols as directed by the farm technician
- Monitor crop progress and report findings weekly
- Transportation of mushrooms to the restaurants - this can be by bike or foot.
- Maintain accurate records of hours worked and report them to Beverley (including notice before payroll day)
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new farm staff alongside Beverley
- Take on additional reasonable duties as needed to support farm operations
What We’re Looking For
- Someone dependable, hardworking, and interested in specialty crop production
- Strong attention to cleanliness and process, especially in controlled growing environments
- Self motivated
- Comfortable with manual tasks
- Prior experience with mushroom farming, hydroponics, or controlled-environment agriculture is a plus — but not essential if you’re eager to learn

Pay: £13.50-£14.50 per hour
