Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing staff, ensuring high standards of childcare, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for children. Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager in the organisation and supervision of daily nursery activities
- Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare aligned with early childhood education principles
- Lead by example to promote best practices in child safety, hygiene, and learning environments
- Oversee the planning and implementation of educational programmes suitable for various age groups
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and nursery policies
- Support recruitment, training, and development of nursery staff
- Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding their children's progress and well-being
- Manage operational tasks such as record keeping, health & safety procedures, and resource management
- Step into the role of Nursery Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the centre
Skills
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong understanding of early childhood education and childcare practices
- Experience working with children across different age groups (2-5 years)
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to motivate and lead a team effectively
- Organised with strong organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Good interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Valid driving licence is desirable for operational flexibility
- Excellent understanding of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Experience supporting children with behaviour and SEND needs
